Kama-Kirta Bird Sanctuary
The distance of Kirta village, which comes under Daulatpura Gram Panchayat of Jawad Tehsil of Neemuch district, is 105 km from the district headquarters Neemuch, the distance from the tehsil headquarters Jawad is 90 km via Ratangarh, while its distance via Kanera (Rajasthan) is only 34 km. Panchayat headquarters Daulatpura and the nearby town Jat are 13-13 km from here respectively. Kirta village, which has a settlement of 100 houses, has most of the houses of Bhils. Along with them, there are houses of Brahmins, Rajputs, Gurjars, Bairagis, Meghwals, Bareths and Nayak castes.
‘Kaki Jheel’, built at the mouth of the origin of the Gunjali river, is today known for bird sanctuary in the remote area. The scene here is very pleasant during the rainy season, while in the autumn season it becomes the center of attraction due to the antics of migratory birds. The antics and chirping of rare species of migratory birds from across the seven seas thrill the bird lovers.
Finding the favourable environment of this lake during winters, flocks of migratory birds permanently camp here. Ornithologists are of the opinion that if small mounds are made in this lake of Kirta village, then it can become a national level bird sanctuary. Bird lovers gather at this lake during winters. To reach here, one can reach via Kanera or Ratangarh Jat of Rajasthan. This lake is located 3 km west of Kirta, near Bechirag Kama village. Senior litterateur of the region, Shri Bal Kavi Bairagi ji named it ‘Kaki’ lake by combining the words ‘ka’ of Kama village and ‘ki’ of Kirta village.
